Introduction
The hole is beginning to fill up when you come to.
"Gertrude!" you cry, scrabbling at the soil. "Help! They're trying to bury me alive!"
"I know, dear," comes the voice of your beloved wife who has worked with you every day for the past thirty years in the curtain ring sales company you founded together. "Just hold on and it'll be over soon."
More soil cascades down on you.
Then realisation dawns…
"Gertrude, are you trying to bury me alive?" you demand.
"Well…" The soil stops for a few moments as the love of your life takes a breather. "Nothing personal, Hubert, love, I just felt like a change."
"Gertrude!"
"And there's this dashing young fellow down the market what compliments me on me hair. Ever such a nice young man he is. Ahhhh. Proper gentleman." The cascade of soil resumes. "He said all I had to do was bury you in an unmarked grave and we'd have the entire proceeds from the business to split between us."
You do a quick calculation. "And you'd kill your own husband for £12.50? Why, you shameless *******!"
"Hubert!" comes Gertrude's exasperated cry. "I am shocked that you would use language like that to me. Your own wife! Well…" The cascade of soil picks up a notch. "I'm feeling better about this already. Ain't no call for language like that."
And as you protest at the unfairness of this all, the grave fills up with soil and you die…
But not for long. Right now, you're too angry to die. Too furious to simply lie there and meekly accept your fate. You want out of here and you're going to pay back Gertrude for this terrible unwifely act if it's the last thing you do.
