Introduction

Clueless Bob Newbie - who might have been known as Clueless Bob, or maybe just Bob to friends (if he had friends which he didn't) - wasn't a happy man. Now, he spent a lot of his life in a state of high annoyance due to the world's inability to appreciate the sheer genius that his games were but he never let their comments - that games should have puzzles, and story, and characters, and no spelling mistakes, and a point - bother him before. But today the ultimate insult had come about.

A container holding the greatest 100 text adventures of all time was to be lowered into the ground in an earthquake-free zone and sealed. There it would remain for countless thousands of year as a reminder of just what quality games the people of today could produce. When the container was opened - in the misty, far distant future - the names of the people who wrote those games would go down in history. They would be regarded as heroes, people to be respected. Gods even...

And Clueless Bob wouldn't be among them!

Crazy as it sounded, none of the 734 games he had written over the past year had been selected. He couldn't understand the reasoning behind it - if reasoning there was because he was baffled by the narrow-mindedness of it. Clearly, something had to be done.

Which was why, several hours later, here he was: crouched outside the building known as Adventure Corps, a copy of his "Masterpieces of CBN" CD clutched in one hand and an inspired plan in his mind: he would break into the container and deposit his games there, thus ensuring that the name Clueless Bob Newbie went down in the history books as the one that everyone remembered...
