For Love Of Digby
The remote didn't work.
You weren't sure what the problem was at first. Your old nightmare - the one about the TV being broken and all the TV repairmen in the world being kidnapped by aliens - resurfaced, until you noticed the TV was working (currently showing a series of adverts in Spanish). It was just the remote.
It wasn't working.
It was broken.
It was unable to change the channel for you.
You nearly panicked then. You came close to tearing your hair out and running around the house screaming. Well… okay, you came close to tearing your hair out. Running around the house? Screaming? Way too energetic for someone who lists 'couch potato' on his passport under occupation.
But you were in a pretty pickle and no mistake. With no remote to change the channel, you'll be stuck watching adverts for the rest of your natural life. Or until the TV breaks. Which might well be the same thing. And there's Digby The World's Biggest Dog on in six hours. You have to get the channel changed before then. Yes, you've seen it before. Six or ten or eighteen times. But it's a classic.
But how do you change the channel when the remote isn't working? You remember, vaguely, something about a knob on the TV that changes it… but you're here and the TV's right on the far side of the room. Much too far away. There must be an easier way to handle things than having to trek all the way over there.

Introduction
It was a day that started like any other day: you, in front of the TV, the remote clutched in one pudgy hand, ready for a good eighteen hours of solid TV watching before the inevitable crawl up the stairs to bed. Only a very strange, and disturbing, thing happened when you tried to change the channel.
