Dancing Even Him?

(a very rushed game) by Richard Otter

[Written for the The Hourglass Competition - 3rd Three Hour Comp 2006]

You enjoyed the party at your good friends Tom and Clare last night. Good food, plenty to drink and loads of chat. You can't really remember what fool suggested getting the quija board out and then if that wasn't bad enough it moved onto a séance.

You felt such a fool sitting round the table, the eight of you holding hands. With nothing but the gentle flicker of candlelight illuminating the faces you started to feel queasy. Too much food and drink you thought.

When you finally got to bed you started having some really weird dreams. Suddenly you wake with a jolt.

You are not in bed, you are not even in your bedroom. You appear to be in a darkened high sided room with a light source high above your head. The floor seems to be made up of very large round objects piled on top of each other.

High Sided Room
The windowless and door-less room is about 5m square with metal walls. You cannot even guess at the height of the place as the ceiling is so high it is completely out of sight. The only light source is from high above to one corner. You appear to be standing on some very large round objects. This place has no visible exits.

> x coins
They are very large round coins. Even in the gloom you can clearly make out the queens head on some of them. You find something hidden in the coins.

> get elastic
You take the elastic band.

> make lasso
From the elastic rope you make a rather good elastic lasso.

> u
Using the elastic lasso you climb up. The lasso falls back into the high sided room.
Machinery
You seem are in the middle of some sort of machinery or mechanism. The only visible exit is down, to the coin store.

> climb machinery
You climb up the machinery.
Slot Room
The tall but narrow room has a bright slot at one end. Some sort of lever is attached to the wall. The only visible exist is down to the machinery room.

> pull lever
You pull the lever and the western wall gives way, you fall through it.
Glass Room
Standing on a small ledge one whole wall of this room seems to be made from glass. It appears that painted onto the other side of the glass are pictures of various cans of fizzy drinks. The only visible exit is east, to the bright slot room.

> climb glass
Using the cables against each picture as hand and foot holds, you climb down the glass wall.
Metal Drum Room
As far as you can see are row upon row of round metal objects, 4 metres in diameter. Each row has another row on top, and so on as far into the air as you can see.

> x objects
They are enormous fizzy drink cans. Giant size!

> x cans
The drinks cans are enormous; each must be 4m in diameter. It is almost as if you are in a giant vending machine. You find something hidden amongst the can, which falls to the floor.

> get paperclip
You take the paperclip.

> open cans
Using the paperclip as a lever you open the nearest can. The force of the liquid escaping throws you against the wall. As the pressure drops you fall to the floor and through a kind of trap door.
Flap Room
This place is about the size of one of those cans you have just seen. The wall in front of you appears to be an enormous flap. You do not see any visible exits.

> get paperclip
You take the paperclip.

> open flap with paperclip
Using the paperclip you prop open the flap.

> out
Quickly, you jump through the open flap.

Surprisingly you find yourself lying in your own bed, so it must have been a nightmare. Although that doesn't explain the 2m long paperclip leaning again the wall, in the corner of the room.

And finally, what is the meaning of "Dancing Even Him?"

Simple, it is an anagram of Vending Machine.
