Escape To Freedom by Richard Otter> 3
You are the pilot of a World War II bomber, returning to your home base for refuelling. Passing over the enemy territory, you experience a sudden jolt and notice a trail of flame and smoke following your plane. You've been hit! You make a desperate lunge for the controls in an effort to stabilize the rocking aircraft. Your worst fears are realized when that horrible sinking feeling makes itself present. Wrestling with the controls seems futile as the plane descends farther and farther.
You eventually smash into the ground in a smoking heap. The plane - what's left of it - is damaged beyond repair, including the radio. You are miraculously unhurt except for several aching bruises.
It's now up to you to ESCAPE the enemy territory and make it back to your home country. Use all of your logic and cunning, as out there you don't get second chances.

Hayloft
You're standing in the hayloft. It's moments like these, you think, that you could just forget about all of your troubles by jumping into the hay and falling to sleep. The only problem is that you're in the heart of the enemy country and that you could be captured at any moment. Really makes you wonder sometimes, doesn't it? Down takes you to the bottom of the barn.
> d
You move down.
Barn
You seem to be standing in what can supposedly be referred to as "a barn". Not that it looks like one, though. Far from it. This place is in a real mess, probably abandoned some time ago. Up is the hayloft, while east leads outside to your stranded plane.
> i
You are carrying a loaded pistol and a piece of paper.
> x pistol
Inside the pistol, (drum roll please), you find a bullet. Exciting, isn't it?
> get bullet
Done.
> eat bullet
You have just swallowed a bullet. A BULLET. No comment whatsoever.
> e
You move east.
Wreck
This plane sure is a wreck. Even though the fire is out now, the plane still feels quite hot. Visible inside the musty cockpit is the usual array of items you might happen to find in a plane; but, sticking to simplicity, I'll narrow those items down to the controls and the seat. There are roads leading out into the open countryside in most directions, and the barn looms to the west.
> x seat
Strapped to the back of the seat is the emergency rations pack.
> get food
You take the packet of rations.
> n
You move north.
Not a very good choice of directions, I must say. Sure, just walz out into the open enemy country side, in the clothes that you are wearing. You manage roughly 100 metres before you are spotted, and it WASN'T that hard to spot you. You're caught.
Back of Truck
You're sitting in the back of a bumpy truck, soldiers all around you (most of them sleeping). The back of the truck is open, and you're sitting on a bench waiting to be taken to some unknown destination.

It looks like you've arrived. You are marched away at gunpoint to your hut, where you will remain. Unless...
"ANY ATTEMPTS TO ESCAPE VILL NOT BE TOLERATED" you are advised by a general before you are left on your own.
